Detailed Itinerary
The guided tour through the city, where the traveller will have the opportunity to visit 5 places will start between 1:45 and 2:00 pm. The first is the Temple of koricancha (gold fencing), current convent of Santo Domingo, place that houses one of the most important religious centers of the Inca period. This archaeological site is located in the heart of the city of Cusco (Cuzco), rare 4 blocks from Plaza de Armas. We will visit the majestic Cathedral of Cusco, considered by many one of the most beautiful in all South America.
Then, the tour moved to the outskirts of the city to visit in first term, the sumptuous Sacsayhuamán (puma’s head), majestic place with impressive works in stone, being the heaviest of 120 tons. These stones were transported by Incas workers from remote sites. Here is the famous INTI RAYMI or celebration in the Sun on June 24 of each year. Our next destination is located just 200 meters from Sacsayhuaman: Q’ religious dedicated to the cult to the land and, according to some theories, to funeral rituals Center q’enqo (labyrinth).
Our next visits, are 10 minutes by bus from Q’ q’enqo. The first site is Puca Pucara (reddish place) that was used as a center of military use and control, as well as a site of obligatory stop for all travelers from the Inca period. Our ultimate destination, located only 100 meters. Puca Pucara is Tambomachay. Tambomachay (water temple) was used as a center of worship and worship to the water.
